How is everybody’s March Madness Bracket going? It’s probably busted like everyone else 😛 It’s another reminder for me not to gamble. Mine brackets is busted on the first week of the NCAA tournament. For those of you oversea, NCAA tournament is one of the biggest national college basketball tournament. It consists of 64 best college teams in the US. It is similar to Champion League in Europe. There are 64 teams, but the odd of picking the winner is nearly impossible. Just like this year Monaco is in the Final Eight in the Champion League, and all of the English teams are effectively out! Sport channels like ESPN, Fox, etc put out prizes for perfect prediction, which nobody is going to win. Their website draws huge traffic as people are eager to sign up to see if their favorite team will win.

However, the clear winner would be Las Vegas casino. When Iowa State and VCU lost, UCLA and other underdog team won the first round. The casino also cashed in. The odd for Iowa State win is for every $1500 you play, you get back $100 (It’s a sure win right, because they are like Real Madrid, playing with a Ukraine team or something ahahha). Not so much, these teams were rated by gurus, and many of the gurus were wrong. 😛 As the result, there always surprises each year.

This week marks a huge lost of a great world leader, Lee Kuan Yew. His accomplishment includes getting Singapore independence, bringing Singapore from a third world country in Asia, into a financial, technology, modern first world country. For those of you who likes to travel, and been to Singapore, many will come back applauding now clean the street is, and how good they recycle. Some other facts – Cambridge grad, he only had one wife. He always claimed his wife is smarter than him.

Liquid wrote about Rising consumer debt in Canada, but my guess for American it is also on the rising.

The labor market has been steadily improving, so rising consumer debt will be good for the banking sector. So I am long, WFC, BAC, C, JPM, V,etc.

  1. Yay March Madness. 🙂 I didn’t bet this year. Just like to watch for fun. Thanks for the mention. I’m long JPM and BAC as well. 😀

  2. Hi Vivianne

Many thanks for your well wishes.

It’s an incredible scene here in Singapore right now, where most world leaders are flying in to Singapore to pay their last respect for the man. The nations have been ever so united as well and it’s just sad to have this man gone from this world.
